Space Food Sticks

I know some people wonder whether there really was a food called Space Food Sticks.  There was, and here is a commercial for the product.  My recollection is that Space Food Sticks were pretty tasteless and had a kind of disgusting consistency, but it was cool to eat the same stuff the astronauts were eating.  Of course, at that time you could have entire meals with nothing but “astronaut food,” which included Tang, Carnation “Instant Breakfast,” and other generally unsatisfying freeze-dried or vacuum-packed creations.

You do have to wonder how much the advertising agency got paid for coming up with a creative name like ‘Space Food Sticks,” however.
