In doing some baking over the weekend, I tried a new recipe of my own devising. It was motivated, in part, by a desire to use some unused ingredients and by a desire to create a concoction I could legitimately call a dirty snowball, which I think is a pretty good name for a Christmas treat. The result is a bit sticky and messy but, in my view, tasty.
Dirty Snowballs
Bottom layer ingredients: 1/2 cup butter; 1/4 cup powdered sugar; 1 cup flour
Mix and pat into 9″ square pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes.
Top layer ingredients: 1 7 oz. container of marshmallow creme; 1 tablespoon cocoa powder; 1 cup shredded coconut.
Stir together marshmallow creme and cocoa powder; do not beat. Carefully spread over bottom layer. Sprinkle shredded coconut evenly on top. Return to oven at 325 degrees for 25 minutes.
Cool completely before cutting into bars.
