Breath Ice

IMG_1728This morning it was one degree, Fahrenheit, in New Albany. I decided to take my walk anyway. There was no meaningful wind, and so long as you bundle up and — and, as Kish instructs, carry a cell phone in case you slip and break an ankle — you’ll survive and get some exercise, besides.

By the end of the walk, however, you can expect all scarves and neck warmers positioned around your nose and mouth to be covered in wispy tendrils of breath ice, formed when the water vapor from your exhalations is caught and then immediately freezes. It’s winter, people.

  1. I love that Kish told you to remember your cell phone, such a comforting ordinary thing to do when you care and worry about someone. It is in the negative numbers with wind blowing a gale, I want to go out but I am cowed.
